I'm currently a Graphic Designer and Project Manager at Modern Earth Web Design in Winnipeg. I also produce 3D computer graphics and videos, as well as listen to the grittiest garage rock. Take a look at some of my work on my site, let me know what you think.

  • WINNIPEG TRANSIT

    As part of the Digital Media Design program at Red River College, we are required to intern for 3 weeks with a company in the city. I was assigned to Winnipeg Transit, where I made this logo animation for the new Rapid Transit line in Winnipeg.

  • WINNIPEG'S HIP HOP REGULARS

    I was approached by the Arts and Disability Network of Manitoba to produce 15 minutes of video content for their event Art + Body. The video shows the barriers that local hip hop talent went through getting started.

  • PERSONAL EXPLORATION

    This was done as a personal project that acted as practice for setting up studio lighting, using the fur shaders in Maya, and rendering in Mental Ray.

  • THE ECONOMIST

    This was done as a project for my typography class. We had to redesign a magazine for the iPad. With in that redesign, we also had to update the wordmark of the magazine.

  • CLARUS ADVISORS

    I was brought in to design and implement a new website for the commercial real estate appraisal firm.

  • 3D TEXTURE AND LIGHTING ASSIGNMENT

    This was a project that focused on obtaining photo realistic lighting and textures.

  • ARCHITECTURAL RENDERING

    This was a self directed project that I used to help obtain photo realism and to gain a better understanding of the Mental Ray renderer.

  • UMFM 101.5FM

    In this promotional video, I sat down with the Station Manager and talked about the radio station's diversity in programming and the role that it plays in the community, and Winnipeg as a whole.

  • RECORD COLLECTION WEBSITE

    I built this website to help organize my record collection. It'll take a while to go through my collection and post them all, but one day it will all be done.

  • ROBOT CONCEPT

    In one of my 3D classes, we were given a short time frame to come up with a polished concept for a robot. This was rendered with just the standard Maya software renderer.

HOW NATE VANDERVIS LETS LOOSE

  • CRUDE RADIO

    Since early 2007 I've been producing weekly radio shows on UMFM with a friend of mine. We've had several shows over the years, first of which being Gold Soundz, a 90's indie rock focused show, then comes 3D Radio, the trio that brought free form to the radio. Crude Radio is the current show, Friday 2:00-3:00pm on UMFM, which focuses on garage rock to obscure home recordings.

  • COLLECTING RECORDS

    Over the past 5 years or so I've been amassing my record collection. It's not crazy huge, but its got some swell titles, from old blues to noisy lo-fi , it is expanding constantly. If you like music, that is probably something we could talk about.
